Boy, oh Boy, did this cake give me trouble....I put a LOT of energy and thought into this cake, and I wanted it to be perfect.....but then.....humidity....heat....NO AIR CONDITIONING....bad fondant...bad fondant....
I tried to correct it, and took the fondant off, which was a HUGE mistake, because it took big chunks of cake out with it....when I reapplied the fondant, same issues...tearing, stretching, cracking. So I ended up having to put a wide base of fondant around the guitar which makes it look a little funny, and some cracks on the guitar body which I could not smooth out.
So all in all, beside the fondant issue and lumpy neck, it's an OK cake. I used stretchy metallic thread for the guitar strings because the fondant was too stretchy to behave. The body of the guitar is a Guiness chocolate cake with a Bailey's ganache filling and frosted with a Jamison whiskey chocolate buttercream. The neck is vanilla cake with the same filling and frosting.
And BTW, it's an Ibanez guitar...by the time it was time to paint the Ibanez logo on it, I was like "screw this"....I'm done....LOL....
